I Caught Something!

Hej Hej!

I went fishing! Finally! I got to spend time in a boat (that wasn’t a ferry) finally! It is sunny in Copenhagen finally! So much happiness everywhere… when I walk to school I can smell flowers (literally)! I decided that I have to walk to ride bike every where I go from now on because it’s so nice outside… and also because I don’t want to spend money to get another bus pass…

Ok, so… Sunday I went fishing. And it made me feel right at home… except for that the rod was 3 times heavier than the kind I am used to, and also too heavy to for me to cast… haha, my arms/wrist actually got sore just trying holding the rod up… darn! (things to do upon returning to the US: join a gym)
So, That cute little boat named Sverd was ours... The trip consisted of 15 DIS students, 14 architecture... and me. :)
The day started out little chilly and gray... but that only lasted for an hour... and the sun came out! One of my favorite feelings in the world is being on a boat with a little breeze and sun... in the middle of nowhere... although, this time we were somewhere I guess.
One of my most important goals in life is to own a boat... :) would you consider me to be ambitious...? haha, that same goal in different words would be "to be happy and enjoy my time doing things that I think are worthwhile, usually for a purpose ...even if that purpose is happieness." No, I won't be a bum... I'll get/create a job too. But! It will be one that I like.
Ok, back to fishing! We caught herring and cod... but I only caught herring... 10 of them! But they are so small and the lures were so heavy that you didn't really even notice them when reeling in... darn!
Here we are tugging along... hmm, somehow I just noticed my red bag got a feature spot.

There were also people fishing off the shore... if you can see them in this picture... they're the little black dots next to shore... oh, and that is a castle...

Harbors always seem to be so cute...

This is my catch! Little did I know that were were supposed to take them home... So we put them in a garbage bags, and carried them on the hour long train ride home with us... :)

When I walked into my apartment, I held the bag out to Lars (my roommate), telling him I brought him a present... (hoping that he would clean them) ...but he looked too comfy on the couch...

So... I attempted... I mean... I've seen my dad do it a million times... It looked pretty easy... but no no, it wasn't so easy... because I think herring have a different bone structure than walleye... so, after mutalating a few, and trying my own way on another few (which was also unsuccessful) I washed my hands and looked up how to clean a herring on UTube :) By the looks of it I had been doing it all wrong...

After the viewing, I still wasn't very good at it... but, in my defense... I'm not sure anyone can really get all the bones out of herring...! They are so small and numerous!

Oh my. was it ever a mess.

So afterwards, I decided to cook them... although I had no idea how... I just cut up some lemon, threw that in with some oil, salt, and pepper...

After trying it, Lars said... "Well Megan, at least you had a fun experience...."

That should give you an idea of how it turned out...

So, yeah... it wasn't that great... but I don't think I would have enjoyed it any way it was cooked, because there is bones in it... and that just grosses me out... yuck yuck yuck.

Well, here I am at the end of my story...

Don't worry! I am going to write about my Berlin, Prague and Thailand travels! ...just not yet. I'm saving it for when I am really stressed out this week. It will be the perfect thing to provide me a break from writing all of my papers, and research! Well, actually... all that writing might make me not want to write anything more... A better guess about my break time would consist of sun and frisbee.

But if you didn't see the post after this one... there are some pictures... just not much of a story!

But I will not forget about it! I promise! It's just that there is so much I want to say! And I don't feel like taking the time right now... Also, I really should be writing a paper, right now! So, I guess I will...

ah!
